Thanks to many wonderful donations and legacy gifts, the brand new MRI (1.3 Tesla) Unit has been delivered, installed and is fully up and running.
Here are some words from Prof Marie-Aude Genain, the Hospital's Principal Radiologist:
"The new MRI unit allows us to diagnose patients of all specialties every day of the week with shortened scanning times and higher precision, and also opens avenues for new protocols and scanning methods such as Cardiac MRI, Abdominal MRI, Orthopaedic and functional studies. The high-quality images created by the system will be a fantastic learning tool for clinical students, interns and residents and will provide many opportunities for research projects which form an integral part of the educational experience in veterinary medicine. The new system will also be connected with GE's research environment in partnership with the University's Radiology Department allowing exciting research collaborations which will enhance patient care. "
We are hugely grateful to all those who donated towards the MRI campaign who have helped make this possible.
